1. PRE TOUR 3.-6.6.2022
Along the west coast

This journey takes you to Vaasa and through parts of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kvarken Archipelago with Wasaline's Aurora Botnia, the world's most environmentally friendly passenger vessel operating the world's northernmost all year round passenger route. You pay a v
isit to the Kyrö Distillery Company known for their award winning gin and peculiar promotion. On the way down along the Finnish west coast you visit the small town of Kristinestad with an old city centre with almost 300 wooden dwellings and outbuildings as well as enchanting Old Rauma that already 30 years ago was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list as a unique example of a living and well maintained old Nordic wooden town.

2. PRE TOUR 4.-6.6.2022
Drive around sustainable Lakeland
The Lahti region  is the southernmost part of Finnish Lakeland. The region was voted among the Top 10 Best European Destinations 2022 and the European Best Sustainable Destination 2022.  During this road trip you get to know Salpausselkä Geopark - a landscape created by water and the old paper mill Verla - a UNESCO World Heritage site representing a part of Finland's industrial history. Lakeland Culinary and Culture tour

Finnish Lakeland is the treasure trove of gastronomy and culture. East and west meet here in many different ways. Finnish people are most characterized by their love and close relationship to nature. It has traditionally been the source of livelihood but most importantly is it the place where we retreat to from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Karelians are known for their hospitality, joy of life and music. Even unexpected guests are warmly welcomed with serving the best possible food and drink. Nature makes us the happiest nation in the world and for centuries has been the source of inspiration for artists. Iconic landscapes like Koli have been immortalized in some of the most meaningful pieces of art in Finnish history. Explore fresh and pure tastes, dive into the rich culture and feel the local lifestyle. The town of KuopioValamo Monastery and the Koli national landscape are some destinations along this tour.

Arctic summer experiences in Lapland
The resorts Pyhä and Luosto offer the possibility to enjoy space, silence and nature 120 km north of the Arctic Circle. The heart of these two resorts are the two small villages, where all quality services are within walking distance. Untouched nature is just a few steps away. Sustainability means preserving these key elements in the future. During this pre tour you get to know the resorts' highlights and accommodation options.

POST TOURS

5. POST TOUR 9.-12.6.2022
Åland Islands
Åland Islands are an autonomous region of Finland stretching over 6500 skerries and islands, each with a unique and distinguished character. The journey starts onboard the brand new Viking Glory taking you through the archipelago to Mariehamn, the capital of the Åland Islands. Soak up the genuine and laid-back archipelago lifestyle during 2 days by hopping from island to island and visiting a picturesque site after another. As Åland celebrates 100 years of autonomy this year, you will participate in the festivities as well as enjoy the idyllic summertime in the archipelago. Tallink Silja Line will take you to Helsinki with an overnight onboard.

6. POST TOUR 9.-12.6.2022
Unesco and Alvar Aalto's architectural destinations

Enchanting Old Rauma is the largest wooden city area in the Nordic countries and it was granted the UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1991. The over 600 wooden buildings are a home to hundreds of people and many unique boutiques, restaurants and cafés. Close to Rauma, the Sammallahdenmäki the burial cairn area dating from the Bronze Age (1500 -500 BC) has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. The whole ancient relic area contains 36 burial cairns from the Bronze Age and Early Metal Age that spread on ridges and heathland over a distance of one kilometer.
One of Alvar Aalto's most prominent works internationally is the The Terraced House in Kauttua. The stepped terraced house was designed as a housing for senior staff of the Ahlström company.
Another Alvar Aalto's masterpiece, Villa Mairea was built in 1939 as a modern residence for Maire and Harry Gullichsen, who were ardent lovers and promoters of art. The designers and the like-minded architects Aino and Alvar Aalto, were given free hands and an opportunity for unrestricted experimentation. And last but not least the tour ends in Jyväskylä, the capital city of Alvar Aalto's architecture.

7. POST TOUR 9.-11.6.2022 
Coordinates of nature in Ruka-Kuusamo
Every visit to Ruka and Kuusamo is the beginning of a new adventure. Explore the beautiful landscapes of Oulanka National Park while breathing in cleanest air in the world. Get your adrenaline flowing and get ready for the ride of your life rafting down the Kitkajoki rapids. Exiting outdoor adventures are perfectly balanced with ultimate relaxation in the warmth of the sauna under the midnight sun. Familiarize yourself with the local culture, local wild food and the way of living by spending a day as a Finn. Learn the secrets to Finnish happiness and take a piece of it back home!

Sustainable Travel Finland

Sustainable Travel Finland label will make it easier for travel trade and travellers to recognise a tourism company and destination that takes sustainability seriously. The label is only awarded for those companies and destinations that have undergone the entire Sustainable Travel Finland programme and fulfilled the criteria.
