The hotel occupancy rate in Oulu is officially the highest in the country and new capacity is required to meet the growing needs of the visitors. Seasonal fluctuations are moderate and demand is high throughout the year.
Saarisampo is a commercial building in the city center of Oulu, North of Finland, with connections to the airport and railway station are less than 100 meters away. The building will be developed into a hotel or a hybrid property.
There is an ongoing alteration of plan process concerning Saarisampo and it will be approved in the end of 2020. The future scenario is to build a new 14 to 16-storey hotel or a hybrid building including commercial services such as restaurants. The volume of the building would increase to even 5,000–7,000 m² depending on functions.
The hotel or hybrid building would activate the city center and respond to the need of hotel services. In the hotel version there would be 160–190 rooms, a restaurant and a 7th floor roof terrace for the customers. The hybrid version combines an 80 to 100-room hotel and apartments.
