Tsinghua FinLab

Tsinghua FinLab program offers Finnish companies a tailor-made market-entry plan for China. The market-entry plan is made by business professionals who know the local market and are simultaneously completing their MBA degree at Tshinghua School of Economics and Management.


Tsinghua University located in Beijing is the most prestigious university in China. Many of the highest politicians and business leaders in China have graduated from Tsinghua. The university has contacts all over China, top class research facilities and it is located next to China's Silicon Valley, ZhongQuanCun.

During an intensive 1–2 term period professional teams doing their MBA degree at Tsinghua School of Economics and Management work on the following areas:

  • Feasibility analysis for business operations
  • Product analysis and a development strategy
  • Business plan (focus points, networking, marketing, distribution and financing plan etc.)

The process will be supervised and coordinated by a dedicated professor from Tsinghua School of Economics and Management.

Funding for Tsinghua FinLab

  1. Primarily Tempo funding (startup and SME companies) as de minimis subsidies. Including own salaries, personnel side costs, outsourced services and general expenses
  2. Funding for young innovative companies. This financing option is intended for companies that have been granted funding for young innovative companies. Expenses related to participation to Market Access Programs will be incorporated into the projects' costs (Phase I and II funding)

Tsinghua FinLab program requirements

  • Business operations based on an innovative product concept
  • Independent company or a unit of a larger corporation
  • Sufficient technological expertise
  • Concept that provides a sustainable competitive edge
  • Paying clientele
  • Sufficient funding and/or positive cash flow for the following 1 to 2 years
  • Website in English

Company commitment towards Tsinghua FinLab

  • € 15,000 program fee
  • Access to company information, customers, financials and strategic plans
  • Time to work regularly with the MBA students
  • Host 3-5 students for a final report and presentation in June-July 2021 (spring course 2021) or in January-February 2022 (fall course 2021)

Spring Course 2021

  • September-November 2020 (at the latest on 27 November 2020): Finnish companies submit applications to Business Finland
  • December 2020: Company selection and MBA-student selection and assignment to projects
  • January-June 2021: Conduct and completion of the Tshinghua-Business Finland FinLab project
  • June-July 2021: Tsinghua MBA teams visit companies in Finland for final report and presentation

Fall Course 2021 (tentative)

  • March-April 2021: Finnish companies submit applications to Business Finland
  • May 2021: Company selection
  • June 2021: MBA-student/faculty selection and assignment to teams
  • July-December 2021: Conduct and completion of the Tshinghua-Business Finland FinLab projects
  • January-February 2022: Tsinghua MBA teams visit companies in Finland
