Background information

The prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and related risk factors in Malaysia have risen substantially in the last two decades. This rapid increase in the number of patients suffering from NCDs presents a major challenge to public health and the economy of Malaysia. Hence, new and innovative solutions that can augment the healthcare system and tackle the rising health challenges are in high demand in Malaysia and the Southeast Asia region.

Business Sweden, Business Finland and Innovation Norway have just launched the Nordic Digital Health Innovation Challenge 2022. The goal of this initiative is to identify Nordic high-potential solutions that will help address the growing issue of non-communicable diseases in Malaysia, which is among the highest in Southeast Asia.

Calling for all digital health solutions targeting the following areas of NCDs:

  • Mass Screening
  • Early Detection
  • Patient Awareness
  • Doctor Awareness

For Nordic companies, this initiative offers an excellent opportunity to showcase and create interest for the solution in Malaysia/APAC, engage with key decision makers and stakeholders within the healthcare sector and finally various funding and accelerator programs. Virtual part of the challenge is free of charge. Later in the fall, a market visit is planned.
