We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Slovak-Finnish Battery Industry Meeting—virtual session focused on knowledge and experience sharing in the field of sustainable battery production. Event is arranged by Business Finland and Slovak Battery Alliance.
Climate change has created huge global demand for battery technologies and services as countries set targets for reducing their CO2 emissions. The role of batteries has become inevitably important in the increasingly electrifying world.
Finland is the only country in the world that can manage the whole battery value chain from minerals to recycling and thus plays an important role in the global shift towards electrification. Finland has expertise from the mining industry and processing of raw materials to technologies related to the manufacture and use of batteries, as well as charging technologies and recycling. Finland has been chosen to coordinate the European battery industry's recycling research.
Slovakia is following the trend by making progress in development and production of electric car batteries. After launching of a new smart battery for electric cars by InoBat Auto, the National Battery Centre was established.
InoBat Auto project is a great example that research, development and production of batteries are one of the priorities in Slovakia. In the first phase the company develops a research and development centre and 100 MWh demonstration production line in Voderady, Western Slovakia. The second phase is aimed at large scale production of battery cells with the annual production volume of 10 GWh. Apart from InoBat, broader battery value chain is emerging in Slovakia with companies associated in the Slovak Battery Alliance.
The event is expected to be the first step towards further business dialogue between Slovak and Finnish companies facilitated by Business Finland and the Slovak Battery Alliance, including individual meetings and potential business delegations later during the year.
The meeting will be held in English through MS Teams. Please register until the 6th April.
Please note that provided times reflect CET time zone. The event starts at 10:00 Slovak time and 11:00 Finnish time.
