BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN RENEWABLE AND SMART ENERGY

Welcome to join the Team Finland visit to Japan on 21 – 23 May, 2019, led by Mr. Matti Anttonen, Permanent State Secretary, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

By taking part in this visit, you will be able to discover business opportunities in Japan in the fields of Bioenergy, Waste to Value and Smart Energy.

During the Team Finland visit, on 23rd of May, a Smart Energy Seminar will be arranged in cooperation between Business Finland, Embassy of Finland and VTT in connection with the 100th Anniversary of Finnish-Japanese diplomatic relations. The seminar will provide a unique opportunity for the Finnish energy sector to showcase Finnish know-how and offering to important Japanese energy players.

WHY JAPAN?

Japan is looking for new partners and innovations from abroad to rebuild its energy systems. Japan needs energy accessibility at affordable cost anywhere in the country, clean and sustainable energy supply, as well as distributed and regionally controllable micro energy-grid, including integration of Electric Vehicles. In this huge society-level change, we see a lot of business opportunities for Finnish companies that have experience in cyber-physical integration, i.e. leveraging traditional and non-traditional energy system by ICT, Big Data and AI.

The Japanese electricity market will also be transformed by deregulation and horizontalization, i.e. separation into power generation, transmission and retail companies. In the middle of such a transformation, Finnish companies with experience in deregulated and horizontalized environment could add significant value to Japanese companies and smart city projects in Japan. Not only hardware and software solutions, but also connected intelligence, digital services, and business models, are of interest in the transformation of the Japanese energy sector.
