Welcome to Business Finland and Embassy of Finland in Egypt virtual event The Finnish-Egyptian Energy Opportunities. The webinar focuses on the power generation, electricity transmission and the efficiency of the transmission. There are also business opportunities in renewable energies, mainly solar and wind energy.
During the event you will hear presentations from the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Co. (EETC) and the Finnish companies Wärtsilä and Fingrid. Wärtsilä will share their experiences in doing business in Egypt and what would be the most beneficial way for Egypt in energy transition. In addition, Lappeenranta University of Technology will tell about the future energy generation.
EETC is the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company under the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. EETC operates, manages and develops the Egyptian national electricity grid. The webinar aims to open the discussion with the EETC what they should take into account when going towards flexible and smart energy systems.
Egypt plans to become the energy hub of Africa. Egypt is already producing some 20 % more electricity than the domestic demand is. Sudanese grid is now connected to Egyptian grid and Egypt sells electricity to Sudan. There are similar plans to connect also Saudi Arabian and Cypriot grid to Egypt.
