We invite you to join the Team Finland visit to the State of Michigan on March 4 – 6, 2020.

This visit will bring Finnish companies together with American businesses in the maritime, cleantech and battery development sectors. The purpose of the visit is to enhance your knowledge and learn the latest in U.S. battery, energy, automotive and maritime industries. The visit will serve sharing of ideas, discussing research & development cooperation as well as joint business efforts in these industries.

During the visit you will have the opportunity to visit Michigan based entities to include; MCity (the Michigan Automotive Test Facility) and PlanetM. You will also have the potential opportunity to meet with other large and well known automotive companies. There will be presentations related to Maritime Autonomy. There will be briefings and meetings centered around research and development initiatives with for example the University of Michigan and Michigan Technological University.

This Team Finland visit is led by Mr. Mika Lintilä, Minister of Economic Affairs.

Why Michigan

The United States as a whole, but specifically Michigan is one of the biggest and most attractive places in these industries and by all market indications will continue to be in the future. The State of Michigan houses a number of major businesses in the battery, smart mobility, and maritime sectors. The opportunities to cooperate with these companies should be considered a main business driver for Finland.

With the upcoming delegation, it will be an opportunity to showcase Finnish know-how, proficiency, research and development within the battery, smart mobility and maritime ecosystems and open doors for discussions, future cooperation and business.


Who should attend

This visit is especially targeted at Finnish companies and other organizations active in the battery, maritime and smart mobility ecosystem as well as research institutions and universities specializing in these core industries.


To cover the expenses of arranging the visit program in Michigan, Business Finland will charge a participation fee:

- Micro Businesses and SMEs: 1300 EUR + 24% VAT per person
- Major Companies: 1500 EUR + 24% VAT per person

Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the visit based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amounts mentioned above.
