Business Finland, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Association of Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries (AFDA) will organize a webinar on May 25, 2021 led by Ms. Eija Rotinen, Ambassador of Finland to Chile.
In 2020, the Chilean Navy has completed “The National Continuous Naval Construction Plan to year 2030”, which is yet to be published, however, there are several major investments already announced, where Finnish know-how and experience within the defence industry could bring added value.
This online visit is an opportunity to provide offerings to the Chilean Navy tenders. The Chilean navy has approved a budget for four amphibious transport vessels (1 vessel cargo transportation, 2 vessels for men transportation and 1 hospital vessel), with an investment plan of 600 Mn USD. The tender will come out in the second half of 2021 and construction is to start in the beginning of 2022. Moreover, a tender for the need for 25 speedboats for coastal surveillance will be established in 2022 and satellite surveillance systems with an investment of 300 Mn UDS. There are also opportunities to explore within navy R&D collaboration
The Chilean Navy has expressed their interest in collaboration with Finland and Finnish companies that provide offering particularly within the following areas: cybersecurity and protection, critical communications, coastal surveillance, maritime awareness, satellite images, surveillance, self-protection, port security, 5G security, cyber range and response planning and Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electronic welfare and R&D.
The goal is to expand the understanding of the Chilean partners and companies and to inform them on what the Finnish defence industry has to offer for the upcoming tenders.
This webinar is arranged following the cancelation of the online delegation in April. If you previously registered for that delegation, you do not need to re-register. Business Finland will contact all the previously registered companies individually.
This webinar requires a binding registration via the link above. To cover the possible expenses of simultaneous translation costs, Business Finland will charge a fee per participating company (excluding members of AFDA). Please indicate in the registration form if you are a member of AFDA. Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the webinar based on the actual costs. The cost of the translation fees are yet to be confirmed but are estimated to be approx. 3000 EUR in total,which is divided between the amount of participating companies. Please note that a 24% VAT per company will be added to the invoice.
An online preparatory meeting for the participants will be arranged on May 11, 2021 at 16:00 - 18:00 EEST. Please indicate in the registration, if you are able to join this meeting. A separate link to this meeting will be sent to all the registered delegation participants. If you are not able to attend the meeting yourself, we kindly ask sending a colleague to substitute you.
