Digitalization opportunities in the UAE

The economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic combined with lower oil prices has accelerated the digital transformation in the UAE. The second largest economy in the Arab world positions technology as the main pillar of the country’s post-Covid-19 recovery plan, aiming to increase the contribution of digital sector in the national economy and to promote smart infrastructure in the country.

Digitalization acceleration became the shared goal for both public and private sectors during last year.  As businesses in the UAE were forced to move online, major digital transformation projects were initiated, especially in the service sectors such as retail, transportation, logistics, education, banking and health care. This trend is expected to continue post-COVID.
