South Korea is the world’s 9th biggest economy and well positioned to recover after the pandemic. It is a leading country in 5G and the 4th Industrial Revolution is high on the agenda for both private and public sectors. In addition, Korea aims to be carbon neutral in 2050. Biobased economy, renewable energy, smart cities, smart manufacturing are among the topics where Korea is aiming for a leap. This is where Finland wants to open dialogue with Korea and aim at business partnerships.

Minister Ville Skinnari will travel to South Korea on June 16-19, 2021 to meet with Korean Ministers and government officials. The goal of the visit is to strengthen the commercial ties between Finland and South Korea, to bring forward the Finnish know-how in the fields of digitalization, and green economy, among others.

Because of travel restrictions, Minister Skinnari will not be accompanied by a business delegation, but Business Finland is collecting background material from Finnish companies to take forward on a ministerial level. This material will be used to create speaking points for Minister Skinnari at his meetings with the Korean counterparts. We are especially interested to hear from Finnish companies that are already located in South Korea, or are planning to enter the South Korean markets. Have you encountered any issues when doing business with South Korea?

Team Finland (Business Finland and the Embassy of Finland in South Korea) will review the messages, and contact the companies to discuss the key messages further.
