Business Finland together with the Embassy of Finland in Sweden is organizing a business delegation visit to Stockholm, Sweden on 4-5 May 2022.
The Swedish healthcare market has historically had high entry barriers such as high decentralization, system complexity and low privatization level. However, increased healthcare costs, and long queues have increased interest in procuring healthcare services from private operators. This trend has been amplified by the covid crisis with the central government increasing its financial support to regions to reduce queues and recently 16 out of 21 regions were reported to be positive to procure services. The ongoing and upcoming public procurements have stated that Nordic Service providers are welcome and Finnish service providers are of particular interest. Thus, an opportunity has opened for Finnish healthcare providers.
In addition to public procurements, Sweden has become a highly interesting market for Finnish healthcare service providers also in terms of B2C sales due to the outstanding purchase power of patients compared to the Finnish market, as well as the implementation of the EU directive on cross-border healthcare.
Challenges in the country´s public healthcare system leading to long waiting times in specialized care have increased patients' interest in cross-border healthcare. Finland has several assets in terms of catering for the Swedish patients, including easy access and availability of Swedish language services.
This onsite visit is targeted at Finnish companies with capital and capacity to expand to the highly competitive Swedish healthcare market. The Finnish companies should be operating within the healthcare sector providing healthcare services such as primary care, specialized care, surgery and mental care.
The delegation program in Sweden will consist of an online training before the visit, seminar, networking event and site visits. During the seminar and networking event, you will have an opportunity to meet with potential buyers and decision makers. The site visits will provide an opportunity to benchmark leading service providers in Sweden.
To cover the expenses of arranging the visit, Business Finland will charge a participation fee.
Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the visit based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amounts mentioned above. Kindly note that the participation fee does not include flights or accommodation of the participant nor meals outside the business delegation program.
