Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland, Mr. Mika Lintilä and Under-Secretary of State, Mr. Petri Peltonen, from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will visit India with a Team Finland business delegation on 18 - 22 April 2022.

This visit aims to deepen trade and economic relations, and promote the exports of Finnish companies, especially within sustainable packaging materials sector. Furthermore, the goal is to strengthen the position of Finland and Finnish companies in West Bengal as well as deepen quantum technology cooperation between Finland and India.

During this visit the delegation will travel across New Delhi, Kolkata and/or Mumbai and Bangalore, getting a chance to witness the Indian growth story first-hand, network with industry leaders, meet potential partners in b2b sessions and most importantly identify collaboration opportunities.

Sustainable packaging materials

India accounts for about 4% of the global packaging industry and the packaging per capita consumption in the country has increased 200% in the past decade. Business Finland has identified India as a strong, growing and lucrative market for Finnish expertise in sustainable packaging solutions. Institutions like the World Bank and IMF have predicted India to be among the fastest growing economies in the world and a major driver of this growth is in the domestic consumption led by increased disposable income and higher exports.

Save the date: Preparatory event for packaging sector delegates will be organized on 4 April 2022.

Quantum technology

There is a keen interest from India’s Department of Science and Technology, academia and business entities to participate in the Finnish Quantum R&D, and a joint bilateral initiative will be launched during the visit. This will act as a channel to better facilitate joint research and development programs in various streams of Quantum Technology. The joint initiative gains even more importance since the Government of India has decided to employ over USD 1 Billion in pursuit of Quantum Advancement and Research over a period of 5 years.

Who should attend?

The visit is tailored for Finnish companies focusing on two sectors:

  • Sustainable packaging materials: Companies specializing in packaging and sustainable solutions.
  • Quantum technology: individual researchers, institutions, corporations and start-ups operating in the Finnish Quantum technology including allied industry (electronics, cryogenics etc) dealing in both hardware and software solutions & research.

Whilst the visit focuses on these two sectors, we also welcome Finnish companies and Finnish companies' local representatives from other sectors pursuing business opportunities in India.
