Today artificial intelligence is everywhere, and over the next decade AI is believed to revolutionize healthcare, working life, industry and transport. When comparing the impact of artificial intelligence on economic growth, Finland ranks second among 11 developed countries. AI in Finland has been applied extensively to research and education, government, as well as business life including building autonomous ships, moderating the Internet, improving clinical healthcare and diagnoses with AI, just to name a few. Finland was also one of the first countries in 2017 to create a national AI strategy. 

The Finnish innovation system is based on intensive collaboration between universities, companies and public sector organizations. The unique cooperation has enabled Finnish companies and organizations to test AI-based services in real-world scenarios to gain experience and create healthy dialogue about its place in society. The highly export-oriented Finnish industry also often base their offerings on extensive use of open data with strong culture of trust in society.  

The 1 hour 45 min live stream event for international journalists will start off by a brief presentation of the big picture of Finnish AI technology development and its role in Finnish society, followed by an overview of the Finnish innovation: Elements of AI, an online education that has trained more than 1 % of Finnish population on the basics of AI, and offers the education free to the world. It has had several European launches this fall.   

For AI’s applications in business life, four Finnish top-of-the-notch companies will be presenting their innovations and breakthroughs in healthcare by AI as well as success cases in how to create AI-powered organizations.   

Journalists are welcomed to ask questions any time in the chat to join the discussions. It’s possible to arrange individual interviews after the virtual meeting. We will also collect all background information and statistics on Finnish healthcare ecosystem in advance for your reference.
