The number of overnight stays by non-resident visitors was four times higher than in the previous year

A total of 220 000 foreign overnights was recorded in April. The majority of these nights were spent in Uusimaa region. Sweden was the biggest non-resident visitor country followed by Germany and the UK.

In total, 1.38 million overnight stays were recorded for resident visitors and around 0.22 million overnight stays for non-resident visitors in April 2022. The number of nights spent by resident visitors was 90 per cent higher than in April 2021. The number of overnight stays by non-resident visitors was four times higher than in the previous year. The number one foreign visitor group was Sweden with 27 000 overnights. Germany was the second biggest with 21 000 overnights and the third were the British with 14 500 nights. The total number of overnight stays in April 2022 was on the same level as in April 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic. These figures are preliminary data from Statistics Finland's accommodation statistics.
