Finnish startups attract EUR 349 million

Startups and early-stage growth companies in Finland received investments highest ever in 2017.

Funding, raised by foreign business angel and venture capital (VC) reached 208 million euros last year, an increase of 33 per cent from 2016. Finland has experienced tenfold increase in the number of foreign investments since 2010.

The article refers to Finland being know from world-class gaming industry and research-based deep tech cases. Not to forget initiatives like Europe's biggest tech event Slush and the Nordics biggest startup hub Maria 01. Startup ecosystem in Finland is possibly one of the most active in the Nordics and Europe.

The statistics were collected by Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN) and the Finnish Venture Capital Association (FVCA).

Helsinki is ranked having the second most attractive conditions globally in Nestpick's Startup Cities Index, published in August 2017.
