The creative industries also boost Finland's growth. The three main business areas of the creative economy – scalable content, creative services and events – the companies in these three areas had combined revenues of €13.75 billion in 2022 and employed a total of 60,950 people.  

The program also responds to a global opportunity: the market for immersive technologies and the metaverse is estimated to grow up to $13 trillion by 2030.  

Finland has strong expertise in the creative industries and XR technologies, and now is the time to combine them. Business Finland plays a key role in linking these sectors and creating new business. 

Growth in the creative industry through cooperation

The growth of the creative industry is built in cooperation; Business Finland promotes the growth and internationalisation of the creative industry together with industry organisations and ministries. 

Our programme also works in close cooperation with the Growth Agreement for the Creative Industries. The Growth Pact is a new way of engaging in dialogue between the public sector and the business sector. The Growth Pact is a concrete action plan in which the public sector and representatives of different sectors jointly define the sector's future growth and development goals and future business opportunities.

The aim of the Growth Pact is to support the development, growth and internationalisation of companies in the sector through practical measures. The agreements explain the current state of each division and propose goals and measures.

Business Finland's goal for the programme

The aim of the Creative Immersive Experiences programme is to help the creative industries renew themselves and to support the innovation activities of companies utilising augmented reality. 

Business Finland's objectives for the programme are: 

  • Activation of EUR 10 million per year, of which EUR 9 million will be allocated to RDI activities in the creative industries by 2025

  • 1–3 interdisciplinary innovation ecosystems (creative industries, XR, industrial applications) 

  • To make Business Finland's funding and advisory services more familiar to the creative industries

  • To support companies and organisations regardless of the industry in harnessing creativity and creative industries as part of their own innovation activities
  • Connects companies and organizations in industries to create new XR solutions and international business 

The programme supports Business Finland's Immersive Digital Life mission.
