In addition to the normal innovation cooperation targets, the target of the call is to support Finnish companies in their access to Indian market and in finding collaboration partners both in RDI and business.

Finland-India Joint Innovation Call

Description of the call

India is world's most populous and growing market that provides endless possibilities from both innovation and business perspectives. Business Finland, together with Department of Science and Technology and Technology Development Board from the Government of India side, are organizing a joint innovation call to foster the cooperation between Finland and India. In addition to the normal innovation cooperation targets, the target of the call is to support Finnish companies in their access to Indian market and in finding collaboration partners both in RDI and business.

In this call, one can apply maximum 2-year (24 months) projects, starting by default in January 2027, together with Indian counterparts within its specified topics:

  1. Sustainable Energy
  2. Advanced Digital Technologies
  3. Microelectronics and Power Electronics

Target group/Who can apply

Call is open mainly for individual Finnish and Indian companies. Additionally, Indian side consortia with a leading company and including other companies and research organizations can apply, and in Finland Co-research projects according to normal company support criteria. Normal Business Finland eligibility and funding criteria are applied. Applying is done using the normal Business Finland application system and the applicants must include into their submission a joint project plan and consortium agreement done together with the Indian partner(s); both need to include IPR remarks. Only those projects are eligible that have at least one applicant from each country and funding can only be given for those projects that are accepted by both countries' (Finland and India) governmental funding organizations.

Funding

There is no specific funding allocation reserved for the call, but all the applications compete against other applications sent to Business Finland in the open call within the available annual granting authority. It is possible to fund up to six (6) joint projects in the call with around 250.000 eur project-wise funding due to funding allocations in India and objectives on establishing balanced joint projects.
