Business Finland is organizing a joint visit to Japan in May 2026, with a focus on Power Electronics.
Fukuoka Prefecture and JETRO have invited the Finnish Power Electronics Cluster to visit Fukuoka to explore collaboration opportunities and to strengthen connections between Japanese and Finnish industrial companies and research organizations.
The objective of the visit is to foster international collaboration in R&D&I and commercial activities, while showcasing key Finnish expertise and capabilities in both business and research within the power electronics domain.
Finnish research organizations and companies are invited to participate in the visit to identify potential partners and uncover new areas for collaboration.
Why Fukuoja, Japan?
Fukuoka, the largest city in Kyushu—often called Japan’s “silicon island” and accounting for around 10% of the national economy—is a major hub for power electronics and wide-bandgap semiconductors. The region has a strong concentration of automotive, mobility, and energy industries, with an active ecosystem in SiC and GaN devices, packaging, thermal management, inverters, and charging systems that closely aligns with Finnish industrial and research strengths.
Universities, research institutes, and companies in Fukuoka focus on applied, industry-driven development in power devices, inverter technologies, microgrids, and reliability, while actively upgrading their power electronics and semiconductor supply chains. This makes Fukuoka a compact and efficient location to meet highly relevant partners and assess concrete collaboration opportunities.
Visit Program - Targeted Collaboration Opportunities
Business Finland will organize a targeted program designed to facilitate engagement with key Japanese stakeholders. Each activity will support Finnish participants in building relevant connections and gaining deeper insight into Japan’s power electronics ecosystem. Take a look at the Preliminary Program.
Who Should join?
This visit is intended for Finnish companies and research organizations in the power electronics sector seeking to develop cooperation or identify new partners in Japan. Regional development agencies and other organizations with an interest in the power electronics ecosystem are also welcome to participate.
