Since the start of 2025, the market in Los Angeles has been through a rollercoaster – from wildfires to potential changes in federal funding. Despite the ongoing changes, the opportunities are only increasing in Los Angeles, as the area prepares to show the world how megaevents are done in Hollywood.
With the opening ceremony of the LA28 Games only 40 months away, the LA28 organizing committee together with the Los Angeles area stakeholders and buyers are ramping up preparation efforts to get L.A. ready for the Games. The pressure to ensure timely delivery of infrastructure projects is also increasing, as the LA28 Games provides deadlines that can’t be pushed out.
Before LA28, several other megaevents will take place in L.A., such as FIFA World Cup in 2026 and Superbowl in 2027, and these will be ‘pilot’ events to test solutions for LA28. Due to the world attention at the Games, it’s unlikely that any new technologies will be used without successful and local piloting before LA28. After LA28, technologies and solutions will ideally be transitioned into legacy projects to benefit the city for the long-run. For example, portable EV infrastructure for the influx of fleets during LA28 will be permanently installed in LA locations such as schools.
