We welcome you to join a Team Finland visit to Milan, Italy on 10 - 12 May, 2023.

The Italian healthcare system is in transition and there is a need to re-think the entire health care system;

  • digitalization as enabler
  • how to collect and use data to improve health care processes
  • how to encourage and enable prevention
  • self-monitoring and telemedicine and
  • how to design sustainable future hospitals.

Italy and Finland have complementary expertise and competences and the Team Finland network has identified ways to connect Italian and Finnish companies and stakeholders. This 3-day visit to Milan gives an interesting opportunity for Finnish companies to meet with potential Italian clients, partners and key stakeholders.

Italian healthcare system in major transition – opportunities for Finnish companies

The visit program is deviced into 2 modules. The first and third day programs are the same for all participants, whilst on Thursday 11 May there are two parallel programs.

Module 1: Future Hospital Workshop in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano
Is intended for Finnish and Italian experts representing academia, architects & engineers, research institutes, private hospital owners, selected companies, and public authorities in healthcare.

The objective is to discuss and share ideas of a next generation hospital concept combining the best expertise and innovations from hospital design and construction to digitalization and operational efficiency.

This one-day expert workshop is an opportunity for mutual learning and co-creation with the objective to identify collaboration opportunities.

Module 2: B2B Meetings with Italian counterparts
Is intended for Finnish Healthtech companies, who participated in the pitching sessions arranged during 2022 and are ready to continue with face to face discussions with the Italian system integrators (Aizoon, Reply, Philips Italy) and Eteria (Construction & engineering consortium) as well as to present their offering to a private hospital group. They all scout for interesting solutions and technologies what Finland can offer.

We can also accommodate a limited number of companies, who did not take part in the online pitching.

Site visit
We will arrange a site-visit to MIND Milano, a world class innovation district. MIND will present its ecosystem where academia, companies, research units and accelerators work together in open innovation model. We will learn about their Federated Innovations concept to accelerate the conversion of ideas into new products, processes and services for the future of health.

We will also visit the new Galeazzi hospital, part of Gruppo San Donato, the biggest private hospital chain in Italy. At Galeazzi, the first example in Italy of hospital of the Future, an integration of research, university, training, and treatment, we will learn about the design process, and innovations and technology deployed.

We will visit Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori to learn about the “city of health”, new hospital and research concept to be built in an ex-industrial area in Sesto San Giovanni that is planned to be operative in 2025.

The purpose is to learn about collaboration opportunities and grow professional network in Italy.
