During this visit, we intend to focus on establishing international collaboration in R&D&I, although aspects of trade and commercial engagements are not excluded.
Japan is recognized as a global leader in power electronics, supported by its strengths in advanced materials, performance-, quality- and reliability-demanding applications like automotive, industrial system, energy systems, along with R&D and manufacturing of advanced power semiconductors based on silicon (Si), silicon-carbide (SiC), and gallium-nitride (GaN) technologies.
To stay competitive and to grow, the Japanese power semiconductor industry keeps investing in cutting-edge R&D and innovation not only by themselves but also with external parties from companies to research institutions and universities that provide leading capabilities and also seeks co-development with forward-looking customers to address globally evolving demanding applications.
We will invite Japanese organizations to explore collaboration opportunities in Finland — from business and innovation partnerships to industry-academia cooperation — all within a stable, high-trust society known for effective public support and global quality-of-life leadership.
Visit Program – Targeted Collaboration Opportunities
Business Finland will organize a focused program to facilitate engagement with relevant Japanese actors:
Each activity is designed to help Finnish participants build relevant connections and deepen their understanding of Japan’s power electronics ecosystem.
The target companies for the meetings include major corporations such as Mitsubishi Electric, Fuji Electric, Japan Semiconductor Company, SanRex, Hitachi, Toshiba, Panasonic and ROHM Semiconductor.
This onsite visit is aimed at Finnish companies and research organizations in the power electronics who want to develop co-operation or look for new partners in Japan. Also, regional development agencies and other organizations interested in the power electronics sector welcome to join.
To cover the costs of arranging the visit to Japan (Osaka & Kyoto, Nagoya, Tokyo) during 27-31 October 2025, Business Finland will charge a participation fee.
Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the visit based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amounts mentioned above. Kindly note that the participation fee does not include flights to/from Japan, transfer between cities or accommodation for the participant nor meals outside the business delegation program
