Chips JU was launched in November 2023. The Joint Undertaking aims to strengthen the European semiconductor ecosystem and economic security. It manages a budget expected to reach almost EUR 11 billion by 2030. The funds come from the EU and the participating countries. Business Finland has reserved EUR 16 million to co-fund these calls.

These guidelines concern the 2026 calls.

Business Finland's national funding complements Horizon Europe funding.
Consortium
Companies and research organizations may participate in this call as part of an international consortium.
Please contact the Business Finland contact person already before submitting your project outline. In addition to the criteria of the international call, the applicants and projects to be funded must meet Business Finland’s funding criteria, which are presented in the funding terms and on our website.
Schedule
There are both one-stage and two-stage calls.
Typically, in two-stage calls:
- Project outlines are submitted in spring and full proposals in autumn via the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
- The deadline for the national complementary application is 14 days after the closing date of the full proposal submission. Finnish participants in the projects must submit the national application form in Business Finland’s online funding service. Application form: "Funding for research, development and piloting for companies; Co-Research for research organisations."
Funding decisions are expected to be made by the end of April 2027.
Projects typically start in summer 2027.
