Call description
Business Finland's funding is aimed at participation in a Nordic joint project and is applied for as Co-Creation funding service.
This joint Nordic funding call is implemented in cooperation between Business Finland, the Research Council of Norway, Vinnova, NordForsk and Nordic Innovation. The aim is in particular to promote cooperation and Nordic consortia among stakeholders operating in the field of metals and minerals.
Objectives and priorities of the call
Projects funded under this call must strengthen Nordic consortia that can prepare and submit applications to RAMP’s international calls or similar calls, for example in Horizon Europe. RAMP is a new co-funded partnership (European Partnerships) funded under the Horizon Europe framework programme.
The consortia must be fit for purpose and competitive in addressing research and innovation needs in the raw materials value chain. The call will fund preparatory projects that create a basis for new ideas and successful project applications. By strengthening Nordic cooperation, the call aims to improve the region’s capacity to respond to Europe’s needs for critical raw materials, taking social and environmental sustainability into account.
Submission of funding applications
Funding applications must be submitted electronically via NordForsk’s application portal. Business Finland will follow the joint evaluation results of the call when selecting projects to be funded. Only those applications that succeed in NordForsk’s evaluation are invited to submit a funding application in Business Finland’s funding online service;
Timetable and guidelines
Applicants may apply for funding for a Nordic joint project. The maximum total budget of a joint project is NOK 1 million, and the maximum duration is 1 year. Grants awarded to the project coordinator (Project Owner) are financed from the Nordic funding share of the call. The coordinator may be awarded a grant of up to NOK 400,000, but this may not exceed 40% of the total grant awarded to the project consortium.
Other participants in the joint project may apply for funding from their national funding agencies. Finnish research organisations may apply for funding from Business Finland to participate in the joint project. A grant of up to NOK 300,000 per project may be awarded to one participant.
Business Finland’s share of the project eligible project costs is 80%. The funding is provided in the form of a grant. Business Finland will make funding decisions and payments in euros (EUR).
In addition to the criteria and conditions of the international call, the funded applicants and projects must meet Business Finland’s funding criteria and conditions.
Failure to meet the deadline will result in the rejection of the application.

Eligibility of applicants
In this call, so-called Co-Creation projects can be funded, in accordance with Business Finland’s guidelines and funding terms, for research organisations conducting public research, including universities, universities of applied sciences and state research institutes.
Companies may participate in the projects with their own funding.
The entire consortium must meet the international criteria of the call.
