Strategic Entry into the Japanese Defense Market
Business Finland, the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo are organising a webinar to present the defence market opportunities in Japan for Finnish companies and provide overview of the latest defence market environment in Japan and the key success factors for entering that market.
As Japan rapidly expands its defence capabilities, a historic window of opportunity has opened for Finnish excellence in defence and dual-use technologies. Central to this shift is the SHIELD strategy, a comprehensive national initiative aimed at reinforcing Japan’s defense production base and securing technological superiority through rapid innovation. With the national defence budget pivoting toward C-UAS, quantum security, and autonomous systems, the Japanese Ministry of Defense is increasingly looking toward international partners to fortify its edge. However, navigating Japan’s unique procurement regulations remain a significant challenge.
This webinar, organized by the Embassy of Finland, Tokyo provides a strategic briefing on the shifting security landscape and the critical success factors (CSFs) required to penetrate this complex market. We will bridge the gap between Finnish innovation and Japanese defence requirements, offering actionable insights on establishing the local industrial partnerships necessary for sustainable growth. The session will conclude with a Q&A.
