Finland is one of global leaders of the development of the next generation mobile communications. It was the first country to launch a broad 6G research program in 2018. Currently, there are more and more ongoing 6G programs and projects globally. The EU has taken a bigger role and wants to see Europe as a global leader of 6G development.

Finnish 6G ecosystem with Nokia and research organizations at the forefront are often in leading roles in the European programs. Finnish success in wireless mobile communications has been based on tight cooperation between businesses and academia. This is the case also in 6G. A good example of it is Hexa-X, the European level 6G Flagship and its successor Hexa-X-II: Finnish organizations are active members of them, and Nokia even leads both projects.

Finland wants to keep the achieved position and enhance the development further. Therefore, Business Finland as an innovation funding agency has decided to allocate 130 million euros to the development of 5G Advanced and 6G.

Business Finland and 6G Finland cordially invite you to attend our 5G Advanced and 6G focused event to celebrate new funding commitments, but also to highlight the latest developments and open up the priorities of the future plans both at European and national levels.

Visit the 6G Bridge program website.

Please note that the event will only be organized as a physical event in Helsinki (in English) and it will be recorded.
