Business Finland’s Defense and Digital Resilience Program invites Finnish companies to an exclusive webinar presenting opportunities in Germany’s rapidly modernizing defense market.
Germany is currently undergoing the most significant defense transformation in its modern history. Following the Zeitenwende, the government has committed a EUR 100 billion special fund and set an ambitious target: by 2029, defense spending will reach EUR 153 billion annually (3.5% of GDP), with an additional 1.5% allocated for defense-related infrastructure, cybersecurity, and energy resilience.
The modernization of defense capabilities is advancing rapidly. The Armed Forces are expanding procurement across air defence systems, long-range precision weapons, loitering munitions, drones, ammunition stockpiling, and digitalisation. Simultaneously, the government is upgrading defense infrastructure to provide scalable, resilient facilities for training, accommodation, and operational deployment by 2029. Germany is also planning EUR 35 billion in space projects and security infrastructure by 2030, including satellites, ground stations, and launch facilities, underlining the country’s commitment to both national defense and space security.
For Finnish companies, Germany represents one of Europe’s largest, fastest-growing, and most open defense markets. The proposed Procurement Acceleration Act (2026–2035) will further streamline tenders and prioritize EU/NATO cooperation, lowering entry barriers and creating opportunities for Finnish suppliers.
