The Dutch maritime sector is a mature, competitive sector of vital importance for the Netherlands. Both the current geopolitical turmoil and the tightening environmental regulatory environment challenge the Dutch maritime companies to re-evaluate their business and strategic areas of cooperation and to look for new innovations.
The maritime sector is, besides the commercial shipping, important to the Netherlands to ensure their military security, secure vital maritime and offshore functions, and access to energy as well as to mitigate climate changes through energy transition and sustainability measures.
Both the Dutch government and the regional maritime clusters are in the process of initiating plans to strengthen the future viability of the sector. Inter-European cooperation is an important part of this process. Dutch companies are seeking partnership through EU projects and at national and local level.
There is a window of opportunity for Finnish companies to seek new partnerships and business in the nearby Dutch market.
