Under the background of “30.60” carbon target, Chinese government is investing hugely in clean and renewable energy. Beijing, as capital city in China, has set up ambitious target to reach carbon neutrality in 2050, 10 years prior to the national goal.

Changping District is one of districts in Beijing, as well as main hub in the city for energy industry. By 2025, Changping district plans to achieve sales volume of exceeding 500 billion Euro in this sector solely.

Business Finland in cooperation with EU-China Joint Innovation Center (EUCJIC) and Changping district is arranging an energy forum on 29 April 2024. The event is aimed for Finnish companies with advanced technologies and offerings for renewable energy, clean energy (incl. hydrogen, energy storage), clean district heating and cooling, distributed and flexible energy generation, energy efficiency, etc.

Background

The new energy is the largest industry in Changping District. Many major China SOE energy enterprises, including power production, renewable energy, petroleum and gas, have established research institutes and subsidiaries in the district. The top level Chinese universities in field of energy such as China University of Petroleum, China University of Mining and Technology, and North China Electric Power University, are all located in the district.

The district also takes the lead in Beijing to apply and utilize different types of innovative new and clean energy technologies such as energy storage, solar energy, energy conservation and carbon reduction, with the aim to create a comprehensive smart and low carbon region. To reach the target of carbon neutrality, during the forum stakeholders and enterprises in the district want to looks for more advanced clean and smart energy solutions from Finland.

The energy forum will be held in cooperation with EU-China Joint Innovation Center (EUCJIC) and Changping district jointly. EUCJIC is an international non-governmental organization, with operational areas include activities and events in China market to enhance cooperation and exchange in innovation, technology, commerce and trade between the EU and China. In the forum, we plans to invite representatives from local Changping authorities, industrial parks, energy enterprises, etc.
