Business Finland and Photonics Finland are organizing a Trade Mission to Japan on 22-26 April 2024.

Both Japan and Finland are some of the world-leading optics, photonics and microelectronics nations. The importance of photonics is higher than ever, extending from scientific and commercial interest to economic growth standpoint.

Japanese optics and photonics industries have been expanding towards emerging applications, e.g., industrial and medical, from consumer applications, e.g., digital/mobile cameras and TV or displays, over the last decade. Finnish companies having innovative application ideas and potentially global niche-top technologies can be interesting partners for Japanese companies to join forces with.

Japanese microelectronics or semiconductor value chain players are developing cutting-edge technologies for the future applications such as 5G, 6G, silicon-photonics integration, quantum sensing and communications. To enhance their competitiveness, Japanese companies are interested in collaboration with photonics technology players in Finland.

Business Finland and Photonics Finland aim to bring together Japanese and Finnish photonics companies and research organizations looking for corporate partners, in research and development, trade or investment collaboration.

The trade mission is organized on the same week as OPIE (Optics & Photonics International Exhibition) and OPIC (Optics & Photonics International Congress), which are comprised of 16 specialized conferences in the fields of optics and photonics, hence, in addition to the trade mission program, the Finnish participants can enjoy meet-up and networking with key stakeholders from OPIE and OPIC.

Who should attend?

This onsite visit is aimed for Finnish Photonics companies, who want to develop co-operation or look for new partners in Japan. Also, research organizations which aim to expand their collaboration with Japanese companies in Photonics are welcome to join.
