Business Finland, in cooperation with the Team Finland network, is organizing a trade mission on “Urban Mobility and Ports” to the U.S. West Coast on December 1-5, 2025, focusing on two key sectors: smart mobility & transit and ports innovation. The program will feature both joint and sector-specific meetings/events.
This trade mission is intended for companies that are already operating in the U.S. or ready to scale on the West Coast. Participants will benefit from targeted business meetings, stakeholder engagement, and high-level matchmaking designed to accelerate exports and foster strategic partnerships. The visit will also feature a showcase event hosted at the Residence of the Consul General of Finland in Los Angeles on December 4.
Innovation in mobility is transforming the U.S. West Coast. From the world’s busiest container ports in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Seattle and (Seattle) Tacoma, to the rapidly evolving transit systems of Los Angeles ahead of the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, the demand for smarter, cleaner, and more connected solutions has never been greater. This program brings together Finnish innovators and U.S. stakeholders to accelerate partnerships in smart ports, electrified transit, and seamless people flow.
Los Angeles is more than just the host city of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LA28)— it’s a living laboratory for the future of urban mobility. With one of the largest public transit systems in the U.S., the busiest airport on the West Coast, and massive investments in smart infrastructure and electrification, LA is rapidly reinventing how people move.
The smart mobility track will be hosted entirely in the Los Angeles area from December 1–5, focusing on urban mobility and people flow innovations, particularly in the context of preparations for the LA28 Games.
The Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Seattle and Tacoma are not just America’s gateways to global trade—they are testbeds for the future of sustainable and digital ports. With investments committed to zero-emission logistics, electrification, and smart infrastructure, and the added urgency of the LA28 Olympics, U.S. port authorities and terminal operators are actively seeking proven solutions from global innovators.
The ports track will take place in Seattle from December 1–2 and continue in Los Angeles from December 3–5, highlighting opportunities and developments in port technologies and operations.
