Business Finland is organizing a Trade Mission to Brazil on 12-15 May 2025. The focus sectors of the visit are Circular Mining and Precision Mining (program in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo) and Sustainable Textiles (program in São Paulo). The circular mining program will be led by Ms. Johanna Karanko, Ambassador of Finland to Brazil.
Circular Mining:
The Brazilian Mining Association estimates the mining investments in Brazil for 2025-2029 to be 68 billion USD. Circular solutions have an increasing importance in the strategies of the Brazilian and International mining companies operating in Brazil.
The program will consist of meetings with executives of Brazilian and International mining companies focusing on investment projects and technical solutions in Circular Mining and Precision Mining. These meetings will take place on 12-14 May 2025 at the Brazilian Mining Capital, Belo Horizonte and on 15 May 2025 in São Paulo. The mining companies planned to be visited have many significant new investment projects under preparation, such as Vale, Anglo American, Usiminas, Centaurus, Aura minerals, Samarco and Anglo Gold Ashanti.
In conjunction with the visit, The World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) (programme – WCEF2025) will be organized in São Paulo, Brazil on 13-16 May 2025 (invitation only+ virtual open to all). On 15 May 2025, Team Finland together with the Brazilian Mining Industry Association (IBRAM) and International Council for Mining and Metals (ICMM) will organize a WCEF acceleration session on “Latin American Path to Circular Mining,” with partners, where Finnish Mining Technology Cluster will present in the program and in which the circular & precision mining track companies will participate and have an opportunity for networking.
Sustainable Textiles:
Brazil is home to one of the largest textile and fashion industries in the world, ranking among the top producers of natural fibers and recycled materials. With a growing focus on sustainability, circular economy policies, and green innovation, the country is actively seeking advanced technologies to reduce environmental impact, increase textile recyclability, and adopt sustainable materials.
Finnish expertise in fiber innovation, smart textiles, bio-based solutions, textile-to-textile recycling, and digital solutions for circular fashion is highly relevant to Brazil’s sustainability transition. This mission provides a direct platform to connect with key stakeholders, industry leaders, and potential partners looking for cutting-edge solutions.
The program could include meetings with ABVTEX (Brazilian Textile Retail Association), ABIT (Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association), major Brazilian retailers, and key industry players to foster collaboration and business opportunities.
Participating companies could also present their solutions and technologies as speakers at a WCEF side event on Sustainable Fashion. This event will bring together a selected audience of key Brazilian textile industry companies and institutions, offering a unique platform for visibility and collaboration. Additionally, we will explore the possibility of securing an invitation to the WCEF (invitation only+ virtual open to all) itself (subject to availability).
