Reminder to funding beneficiaries: deadlines for final reports must be met
Business Finland will tighten project reporting practices at the beginning of 2026. It is essential to be very careful, as funding will not be paid if the final project report is not submitted by the deadline. The changes apply to both new projects and those already in progress.
Further information
Through project monitoring, Business Finland ensures that the objectives and impact of the funding are achieved. The funding terms and conditions specify how the project’s content, the implementation of the project plan, and project-related costs must be reported. Funding is paid retroactively based on the reports and incurred expenses.
Attention: Stricter final reporting practices starting in beginning of 2026
According to the funding terms and conditions, the right to receive funding is forfeited if project reports are not submitted by the deadline specified in the funding decision. The funding terms and conditions published in 2026 will emphasize the importance of meeting the reporting deadlines.
– From January 1, 2026, onward, we will tighten our practices in all ongoing projects. A final report submitted after the reporting deadline will not be processed, and funding will not be paid. Extensions for deadlines can be applied for through our online service, but the application must be submitted before the reporting deadline, states Anne Kleemola, Head of the Funding Control Unit.
The third letter will be a hearing notice
As before, two reminder letters will be sent regarding reporting. The first reminder is sent immediately after the project ends, and the second reminder is sent 30 days before the reporting deadline. If the report is not submitted by the deadline, the third letter will no longer be a reminder but a hearing notice indicating that a report submitted after the deadline will not be processed, and no additional funding will be paid.
– This is in the best interest of our customers. When our customers adhere to the reporting schedules, the processing progresses more smoothly, and the funding can be paid as quickly as possible, Kleemola emphasizes.
