Estonian deep-tech company UP Catalyst is advancing plans to produce battery-grade graphite and carbon nanotubes from CO₂ emissions in Finland. UP Catalyst and Finnish energy company Oulun Energia have signed a Letter of Intent for the utilisation of captured CO₂ emissions from one of Oulun Energia’s facilities in Oulu, Finland.

Business Finland has awarded a total of approximately EUR 30 million in funding to six Rise to Challenge projects. The annual Rise to Challenge call funds bold research initiatives by research organisations that build expertise in future growth sectors and create long-term pathways for translating research into business.

A delegation of more than 40 decision-makers aiming to revive the Ukrainian economy is currently in Finland. The aim of their five-day visit is to strengthen business between the countries. The World Bank has estimated that the cost of reconstruction in Ukraine has already exceeded EUR 500 billion.

Sprint funding will continue after the pilot phase ending on 31 August. The funding pilot targeted at small companies developing new innovative solutions for international markets has proven warrarted.

Finland ranked third among the EU's 27 member states in the European Commission's Startup & Scaleup Scoreboard, highlighting strengths in talent, entrepreneurship and the innovation environment.
