Team Finland network is organizing a business delegation visit to Australia on 24 – 28 October 2022. This Team Finland visit is led by Mr. Ville Kopra, State Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Trade of Finland.
Australia’s newly elected government has signalled its commitment and urgent need to diversify its economy and invest in new energy solutions. This disruption to the status quo provides a unique opportunity for Finnish companies to fill the gaps in Australia’s domestic capabilities. The upcoming delegation visit will focus on the decarbonizing thematics with the main focus on the digital and green energy transition, smart port technologies and the decarbonization of the marine sector and digital solutions for sustainable cities.
The delegation will connect key Finnish and Australian stakeholders operating along the entire green energy value chain. Target is to enhance business opportunities as well as pave the way for longer term co-operation in the new evolving business and research areas. This includes collaboration with Federal, State Governments and industry on green technologies such as hydrogen and P2X. In 2021 about 60% of Australia’s electricity was generated from coal. Yet it is possible to reach the climate goals of the new government – 43% reduction by 2030, Net Zero by 2050. Under the Step Change Scenario through to 2050 by Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) significant opportunities are highlighted in generation capacity, storage, firming generation, and transmission augmentations as coal generation withdraws. Please note that the delegation participation fee does include passes to the All Energy, Australia's largest clean energy event, and both co-located events as those are free to attend events. There will be time reserved in the delegation program to visit All Energy Australia, however this is optional.
Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the visit based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amounts mentioned above. Kindly note that the participation fee does not include flights or accommodation of the participant nor meals outside the business delegation program.
