We invite you to join the Team Finland visit to South Africa and Namibia on 14-18 November 2022. This Team Finland visit focuses on the below indicated sectors with digitalization and ICT acting as cross-cutting themes across both:

South Africa

Smart Cities both residential and industrial developments – including built environment and smart construction, data driven city, energy, water management, circularity, logistics
Energy – including smart energy grids, battery storage, renewable energy technology

Namibia

Green transition - technology and expertise related to renewable energy solutions, green hydrogen, synthetic fuels, waste-to-value, energy systems and smart energy solutions.

The goal of the visit led by Mr. Ville Skinnari, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, is to foster relations between Finland and the two countries, as well as offer an excellent opportunity for Finnish companies in energy, smart city and digitization related industries to establish high-level business connections. 

In South Africa, delegates will have the opportunity to meet Smart City developers, independent power producers, e-government project organizations and other private and public stakeholders and decision makers to discuss business cases and concrete projects, including inherent skills development aspects. 

In Namibia, delegates will have the opportunity to meet key energy sector stakeholders, including the Government officials and decision-makers, green hydrogen industry representatives and private sector representatives, and to discuss ongoing and planned projects.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

South Africa

The visit is targeted at Finnish companies with solutions for smart cities and energy sectors, including the built environment, smart construction, energy systems, water management, logistics, waste management, digitalization & ICT, upskilling, etc. with interests or activities in South Africa. 

If you are representing a Finnish company already in South Africa or planning to enter the market, this delegation visit is a good opportunity to add contacts, position your offering in business cases either individually or as part of an ecosystem. Read more on why South Africa

Namibia 

The visit to Namibia is targeted particularly at the Finnish energy sector stakeholders with green transition solutions. These include companies with technology and expertise related to renewable energy solutions, green hydrogen, synthetic fuels, waste-to-value, energy systems and smart energy solutions. If you are representing a Finnish company planning to enter the Southern African market, or one already based elsewhere in the region, this delegation visit will be a great opportunity to explore Namibian opportunities related to green transition. In addition, should there be companies focusing on ICT / digitalization opportunities in Namibia, relevant sectoral bilateral meetings can be arranged.

PRACTICALITIES

To cover the expenses of arranging the visit program in South Africa and Namibia, Business Finland will charge a maximum participation fee of:

•    Major companies: 1500 + 24% VAT per person
•    Micro companies and SME’s: 1275  +24% VAT per person

Business Finland will invoice the participation fee after the visit based on the actual costs. The invoiced fee will not exceed the amounts mentioned above. Business Finland reserves the right to reconsider the offer / cancel the visit if less than 10 companies are to join the delegation. Kindly note that the participation fee does not include flights or accommodation of the participant nor meals outside the business delegation program.
