With a population of 29 million and an annual economic output exceeding USD $2 trillion, the Lone Star State is a major center for commercial activity and an international hub of research excellence across all sectors. Once primarily known for cattle, cotton, and fossil fuels, Texas has seen its economy diversify over the past four decades while also experiencing significant, durable economic and population growth, especially in the booming metropolitan areas of Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin.

The Team Finland network will organize a Business and R&D Delegation visit to the State of Texas on 11-15 December 2022. The delegation will visit Dallas, Houston, and Austin regions. The target of the mission is to promote Finnish – American collaboration in advanced technologies and R&D, including trade and investment promotion and the networking of research entities. The agenda will cover transportation and logistics, energy innovation and built environments, with a special focus on smart and green logistics at intermodal logistics hubs, seaport terminals, new energy, connectivity, and smart city solutions. Areas covered include high-performance computing and data-intensive fields of research that require tools such as AI and advanced computational power. Meetings will be arranged with business counterparts, senior public officials, and top university researchers. This visit is led by Mr. Ville Skinnari, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The Team Finland business delegation visited Texas in March 2022. The upcoming delegation is a continuation visit with the purpose of deepening relations and meeting with new potential partners.
