The Team Finland Network will organize a business delegation visit to Prague, the Czech Republic on 2-4 May 2023. The visit is led by Ms. Nina Vaskunlahti, Under-Secretary of State for international trade, Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Embassy of Finland in Prague and Business Finland’s Low carbon built environment program are organizing a ‘Wooden school’ trade mission to the Czech Republic. The purpose of this trade mission is to create good business collaboration opportunities for the Finnish companies and get direct contacts in the Czech market. During the trade mission the companies will meet potential Czech municipalities and other decision makers relevant to school buildings. Additionally, companies will meet with architects and developers relevant in the area. Participating in the trade mission will give a unique opportunity to learn about Czech construction market and promote Finnish know how in wood construction.

WHY THE CZECH REPUBLIC?
The urgency for finding new, industrial and less carbon intensive solutions for the construction industry is currently very high in the Czech Republic. Market pressure on more sustainable solutions have created interest to wooden buildings among developers and architects. Cast in situ solutions dominate construction, which leads into slow and labor-intensive processes. Thus, there is also interest to faster and industrial construction methods. Finnish reputation in education creates also interest into Finnish solutions for school buildings, and the structural solutions used in schools can be applied to other mid-sized buildings as well.
