Why enter to Hong Kong market through e-commerce?

Hong Kong as one of the world’s leading digital cities, during 2021 – 2022 e-commerce business experienced a historical take-off in this market. Consumers shifted from offline to online shopping to purchase fresh produce, imported food and other non-food products. Currently, eCommerce is a mainstream way of buying in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong e-commerce market is projected to reach €6 billion, accumulated by annual growth rate of 10.5%. Hong Kong consumers demand not only a diversified selection but also speed in service. In 2019, Food Panda one of the largest food delivery companies in Hong Kong launched PandaMart, an e-commerce vertical that offers express delivery services in under 25 minutes.

At the same time, traditional retailers are seeking for a dramatic shift from offline to online model (O2O), in order to stay relevant to their customers. Amongst all eCommerce players in field including Alibaba and Amazon, HKTVmall became a major platform with local competitive edge. The unique customers grew from 94,000 in 2015 to 1,290,000 in 2021. The company has remarkable success partnering with traditional retailers to build online channel. HKTVmall is currently the top online shopping mall with 5,500 online stores.

Food from Finland program is delighted to invite Finnish food suppliers to the upcoming online store on HKTVmall in partner with local business operator.
