The budget for the audiovisual production incentive for 2024 is approximately EUR 10 million. The Parliament of Finland will decide on a possible budget increase of EUR 10 million at the end of the year. The funding service will open at 8.15 a.m. on January 2, 2024.

No changes will be made to the minimum funding requirements in 2024. However, some changes have been made to the application and reporting of the production incentive.

Amendments in 2024

1. The project must start within 12 months of the funding decision with regard to the costs incurred in Finland.

  • Incomplete applications submitted too early and delayed projects create a lot of work and complicate the funding of better prepared projects.

2. The deadline for fulfilling the criteria of a conditional decision is reduced from four months to a maximum of two months.

  • Applications submitted at the beginning and end of the year will be on a more comparable footing with regard to the deadline for fulfilling the criteria.

3. A single cost and content report can cover a period of at least six months.

An extension for both 1. and 2. is possible on discretionary basis. This depends on factors such as the number of pending applications and the budget.

Business Finland’s new reporting system will be made available as soon as possible. The filling out the report has been made easier by providing instructions and combining the cost and content report. New follow-up questions include the number of employees and the export revenue generated during the project.
