Business Finland has received a large number of applications for research and development funding. The high demand may slow down some R&D funding decisions at the end of the year.
"The large number of applications shows that Finnish companies want to grow and innovate, which is excellent. The unfortunate downside of the high demand is that our funding authorization for R&D projects this year is running low. For this reason, some of the funding decisions will have to be postponed until 2026 once the authorization has expired, says Jussi Kivikoski, Director at Business Finland.
"Even though some of the R&D funding decisions for the rest of the year may be delayed slightly due to the limited funding authority, it is still worth preparing new projects and submitting applications as usual", encourages Kivikoski.
In 2026, Business Finland will have significantly more authority to fund R&D projects than in 2025.
The scarcity of funding at the end of 2025 only applies to research and development funding. It does not apply, for example, to R&D funding for creative industries, the Production incentive for the audiovisual industry, Energy Aid, or funding services that were closed on October 3 (Tempo, Exhibition Explorer, or Market Explorer).
