Call has ended!

The investment aid will stimulate the reuse and recycling of industrial side and waste streams (e.g., from the bioeconomy) and other key materials (such as plastics, textiles, packaging, electrical and electronic equipment, construction and demolition materials).

What kinds of projects are eligible for this funding?

The funding call is aimed at pioneering companies making industrial investments or piloting and demonstration plants in the recycling and reuse of waste or side streams in Finland. The companies must be registered in Finland.

The funding will be allocated

  • to the first commercial installation investments
  • pilot and demonstration installations
  • the deployment of new technologies in existing processes
  • digital solutions that promote reuse and recycling (excluding online sales and investments in distribution channels).

Projects for the recycling and reuse of battery materials are not covered by this funding call, but there is a separate call for them: Pilot, demonstration and investment projects for the battery industry.

During this funding call, Business Finland can also take into account applications relevant to the content of the call that Business Finland received as applications for investment aid for the circular economy, for which the application period ended on 16 April 2021. This evaluation can include applications that did well in the comparison of applications in the spring but for which there was not enough funding available, and which were therefore left to wait for the autumn funding call. Business Finland will notify the applicants separately of such cases. The applicants should prepare for providing any necessary additional information for this funding call if they want their applications to be included in the evaluation of the autumn round of applications.

A total of EUR 80 million is planned to be used for the funding of investments in recycling and reuse, EUR 10 million in 2021 and EUR 70 million in 2022. The funding does not burden the company’s quota for de minimis aid or the Commission’s temporary support program of EUR 1.8 million.
